Are you tired more often than you should be?  Do you find yourself yawning at lunchtime? Maybe you doze off in the middle of work meetings?  Do you find it hard to get through the day feeling energized? There are several factors that can contribute to this and one of the most common is not enough quality sleep.

Getting a deep sleep can play a huge role in your health and livelihood.  When you get sound, deep, sleep you will have more energy and a more positive outlook on life.  There are several things you can do to ensure a better nights sleep.

Pitch Black

Keeping your bedroom as dark as possible is a great way to have a deeper sleep.  One way you can do this is by using blackout curtains.  You’ll also want to limit electronic devices and the light they emit.  

Breathe and Stretch

Doing about 15 minutes of meditation or deep breathing along with a nighttime stretching routine is another great way to get a deeper sleep.  You’ll clear your mind and allow it to rest when you do this and that plays a huge factor in getting a good nights sleep.

Booze

No don’t get excited, I’m not telling you to pound the booze before bed.  You should refrain from alcohol as much as possible for a good night’s sleep and to feel well rested the next day.  Research shows that alcohol disrupts your sleep patterns.  You can a have a glass of wine or a beer before bed and that won’t hurt you, but no more than that.  

Following these steps will certainly put you in a position to get a deeper night’s sleep and stay well-rested throughout the week.
