Liverpool were rampant in their opening game of the new PL campaign against the Hammers and comfortably won the contest 4-0.
Last season’s top scorer Mohamed Salah opened the scoring in the 19th minute of the game. The Reds doubled their advantage just before half time thanks to Sadio Mane.
The Senegalese international got his second goal 7 minutes after the restart and substitute Sturridge made it 4-0 to the Merseysiders in the 88th minute of the game.
Here is how Liverpool players fared vs West Ham.
Alisson – 7: The Brazilian international was mostly a spectator and would be delighted with his first clean sheet on his competitive debut for the club.
Alexander-Arnold – 6.5: Klopp opted to start the youngster ahead of Clyne. His crossing was not up to the mark but he was able to test the opposition’s goalie with a quality free-kick.
Van Dijk – 8: The Dutch international was the leader at the back for Liverpool. His vocal presence has transformed Klopp’s back line.
Gomez – 7: In the absence of Matip and Lovren, Gomez got the nod to partner Van Dijk in the central defense and he did well in the game.
Milner – 7.5: The retired England international was energetic as ever and he set up Liverpool’s second goal of the game.
Wijnaldum – 7.5: The former Newcastle man got the nod to play in the midfield ahead of Henderson and Fabinho and he was impressive. He had two attempts on goal but unfortunately, both off-target.
Keita – 8: He was Liverpool’s engine in the central midfield. Absolutely, tireless. The Guinean midfielder made a brilliant run through the center and provided the crucial pass before the assist pass (Robertson) for the opening goal.
Mane – 9: Tormented the opposition with his pace and scored two goals on the day. Could have had a hat-trick
Salah – 7.5: Scored the opening goal of the game but was not at his best.
Firmino – 7.5: The Brazilian did set up Mane’s second goal but it should have been disallowed (offside). Firmino combined with the players well but could not get on the score sheet.
Henderson – 6: Came on in the 61st minute of the game when Liverpool were already leading 3-0.
Shaqiri – N/A: Brought on in the 81st minute and did not do much to trouble the opposition.
Sturridge – 7: Came on in the 87th minute and scored with his first touch. If Sturridge remains fit, he could be a huge asset for the Reds.
