Manchester United already have more than a few central defenders in the team, still, they are looking to lure another center half and a top quality player in the form of Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld has been linked with them for quite some time.
If the latest reports going on in the media are anything to go by then the Red Devils are in pole position to hire the services of the Belgian international, who is currently in Russia for the World Cup.
According to Tutto Mercato Web, Manchester United are the favorite club to secure the purchase of the 29-year-old defender. The Italian source have mentioned that the former Ajax star is Jose Mourinho’s great favorite to strengthen the back line at Old Trafford.

Alderweireld has been brilliant for Spurs under the management of Maurcio Pochettino but in the last campaign, he was mostly on the treatment table due to a hamstring injury.
In all competitions, the ex Atletico Madrid player could only feature in 21 fixtures for the north Londoners.
As far as the World Cup 2018 is concerned, so far, he has made 3 appearances in the competition and we can expect him to start against Brazil in the quarter final tomorrow.
Alderweireld’s current deal with Spurs will expire next year and as reported by ESPN last month, he is valued at around £70million (€79million).

£70 million for Alderweireld, now we know Levy has a sense of humour too. The funny thing is Mourinho and Woodward will be the stooges if United buy him for anything more than 10p.
