Serie A holders Juventus have reportedly decided against the mid-season sale of Douglas Costa amid the transfer interest from the likes of Manchester City and Manchester United.
The Brazil international saw his temporary move from Bayern Munich become permanent during the summer but he has since struggled to make a major impact on the Bianconeri’s proceedings with just four starts in the Serie A.
As such, there has recently been the speculation that he could head to the Premier League next month but Calciomercato claims that the Bianconeri are unlikely to consider the option until the end of the season at the least.
Meanwhile, the player is also understood to have no plans of making way from the Bianconeri and he may analyse his position with the Turin giants over the next six months before deciding whether a fresh challenge is necessary to enhance his gametime.
Costa had been a regular feature for the Bianconeri during his debut campaign last term and he managed a total of 31 league appearances – out of which 18 came from the starting lineup.
However, he has not enjoyed a similar run this season with just four of the 14 appearances resulting from the off while his discipline has also been a concern after receiving a needless red card earlier in the season.
Based on this, it is quite clear that the Brazilian is no longer an indispensable figure in the Bianconeri ranks but he is still likely to stay put for the campaign with their manager wanting sufficient depth to compete in Europe.
Juventus have fallen short at the final hurdle in two of the previous four Champions League seasons and Max Allegri remains optimistic of securing the crown this time around while keeping the squad intact.
