Arsenal need to sign a new goal keeper in the summer transfer window and they are linked with Barcelona star Jasper Cillessen.

Their current first choice shot stopper, Petr Cech, used to be world class perhaps a few years back but now, he is past his best and must be replaced.

According to Spanish source Mundo Deportivo, the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool are interested in signing Cillessen, who has got a release clause of 60 million euros (£53million) in his contract.

The former Ajax goalie has mainly been a bench warmer since moving the Nou Camp two years back. In the last campaign, Barca boss Valverde preferred German goal keeper Ter Stegen in his starting XI and Cillessen could only start once in the Spanish league.

Overall, the 29-year-old star only made 11 appearances in all competitions for the Catalan giants and kept 9 clean sheets.

As per the provided Mundo Deportivo link, Barca could let the player leave and it will be hard for them to say no if a great offer is received from the interested clubs.

Cillessen is an experienced goalie, who was part of the Netherlands team that earned third place in the FIFA World Cup 2014 under the management of former Man Untied boss Louis van Gaal.

In your opinion, is he good enough to become Arsenal’s first choice goalie?
