Liverpool sold star playmaker Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona in the winter transfer window and as yet, the Merseysiders have not managed to replace the Brazilian magician.
Thanks to Jurgen Klopp, the Reds have done well since the departure of the former Inter Milan attacker, still, Liverpool need a quality signing to replace him this summer.
If reports in the media are anything to go by then after selling Coutinho, Liverpool made a big offer to sign Asensio from Real Madrid but the move was rejected.

As reported by AS today (press image provided at the bottom of the article), at first, Klopp tried with a £44million move and then after the departure of Coutinho, the German manager offered a mammoth sum worth 150 million euros (£131million) to lure Asensio.
The Spanish source claim that on both occasions, the Los Blancos replied with a blunt answer confirming that the attacker will not be leaving the Bernabeu.
The 22-year-old star is one of the most talented young playmakers in the world. This season, he has so far made 52 appearances for the reigning European champions, scored 11 goals and provided 6 assists. It must be noted that he could only start 28 times in all competitions.
Asensio’s current deal with the Spanish giants will expire in 2023 and as per AS, it has a huge release clause of 700 million euros.
