Arsenal conceded 51 goals in the recently concluded Premier League campaign and therefore, new coach Unai Emery must make defensive reinforcements in the summer transfer window.
If reports in the media are anything to go by then the Gunners are looking to sign an experienced defender from Italian champions Juventus in the form of Stephan Lichtsteiner.
Yesterday, BBC reported that Arsenal hope to sign the veteran right back on a free transfer this summer. Today, according to Football.London, the north Londoners are closing in on their first summer signing of the Emery era and it is mentioned that they are confident of agreeing a deal to sign the Swiss international from the Old Lady.

The 34-year-old defender is a decorated star, who joined the Bianconeri in 2011 and since then, he has won every single league campaign with the Italian giants (7). He has also won 5 Italian Cup trophies and 4 Italian Super Cup titles with Juve.
Last season, he featured in 32 games in all competitions for the Serie A side and provided three assists.
At the moment, Arsenal’s first choice right back is Spanish international Hector Bellerin. The speedy Spaniard is a talented fullback but he was highly inconsistent at the back last season and that made Arsenal suffer.
Bellerin could learn a thing or two from the experience of Lichtsteiner and signing such a quality defender on a bosman would be a massive coup for Emery.
