Chelsea to agree €72million worth deals to seal key signing

Chelsea seem to be very active in the transfer window since appointing new head coach Maurizio Sarri, who replaced Antonio Conte at the club.

The Blues have already lured Jorginho to strengthen their midfield and if reports in the media are anything to go by then they are set to agree €72million worth deals to seal signing of a key defender.

According to London Evening Standard, the Stamford Bridge club will complete their second major signing of the summer by hiring the services of Daniele Rugani from Juventus for a fee worth €50million. As far as the terms are concerned, it is mentioned that the Italian international will agree a five year deal that will make him earn €86,000-a-week (worth €22million).

Last season’s stats:

The 23-year-old central defender is not only solid at the back but also productive in the offense. Last season, he started 22 games for the Italian champions and directly contributed in 4 goals (2 goals and 2 assists).

Chelsea’s back line:

Luiz was injured and out of favor last season and therefore, he only played 10 league games, moreover, captain Cahill will turn 33 later this year and he is past his best. The former Bolton defender was a bench warmer at the World Cup under the management of Southgate, who preferred the likes of Walker, Stones and Maguire in his back line.

The Blues conceded 38 goals in the Premier League in the last campaign and finished 5th in the table. Sarri needs to tighten things up at the back and Rugani will be a quality addition.

Former boss Conte used to play three at the back formation at the Bridge but Sarri likes to play four at the back. In such a situation, we expect Rudiger to partner the Azzurri star in the central defense.
