Arsenal are looking to strengthen their central defense this summer and are constantly linked with Turkish international and Freiburg starlet Caglar Soyuncu.

On 15th June, Calcio Insider exclusively revealed that the €40m-rated defender (The Sun) has verbally agreed to join Arsenal and he has told his agent to complete the move.

Few days later, in an interview with Gunes, the 22-year-old himself confirmed that he wants to move to the Emirates but the final decision will be made by the Bundesliga side.

If the latest reports in the media are anything to go by then the north Londoners are still working to secure his signing.

Yesterday, Sky Sports News reported that Arsenal remain in discussions to hire the services of the central defender this summer.

Soyuncu featured in 30 games in all competitions for Freiburg in the last campaign and scored one goal. The German club finished three points above the relegation zone and had the second worst defense in the league (conceded 56 goals).

In all fairness, the former Altinordu defender was not impressive at the back for Freiburg and he is surely not worth €40m. In your opinion, is he really good enough to strengthen Arsenal’s defense?

  1. We do need good young blood, but young and experienced players. We need a wealth of strong experiences players, is he good enough ? Maybe, probably not though going by last season. Perhaps some wise shoulders around him and he’ll kick on well, he’s fast and that helps bounds in prem. Let’s hope emery know what he’s doing. I have a funny feeling we’re going to miss a certain frenchman, don’t ask me why, things just don’t feel right.
