Contact made – Liverpool could agree deal to sign €60million star

Liverpool have been linked with Dutch international and Barcelona star Jasper Cillessen for quite some time and the latest reports are interesting.

According to a report published by Mundo Deportivo, the Netherlands shot stopper does not want to spend another season warming the bench and has told Barcelona to asses offers.

The Spanish source have mentioned that Liverpool look like a good destination for the 29-year-old goal keeper as Klopp is looking to sign a new star to guard the goal.

It is further stated that the Reds made contact to inquire about hiring Cillessen and they did the same for Atletico’s Oblak and Roma’s Alisson as well.

Last season, the former Ajax star was a regular starter for Barca in the Copa Del Rey, however, he only started once in the Champions League and once in the La Liga. Therefore, he must leave for regular first team football.

Cillessen’s current deal with the Catalan giants will expire in 2021 and it has a release clause of €60million (MD). As per Mundo Deportivo, Barca want the suitors to meet the mentioned release clause or pay a figure close to it if they want to sign the Dutch star.

In my opinion, Cillessen is a top class star and definitely better than the goalkeepers Liverpool currently have in their team. He has made 40 senior international appearances so far and was part of the Netherlands team that earned third place in the 2014 World Cup. So, Liverpool should move in with a concrete offer to sign him.
