Arsenal have been linked with Uruguayan international and Sampdoria midfielder Lucas Torreira for quite some time and the latest reports are looking positive for the Gunners.

According to The Star, the north Londoners moved in with an offer of 22 million pounds for the South American but the move was rejected by the Italian club, who wanted 26 million pounds (€30million) for their key player.

Now, the asking price has been met by the British side, who are set to announce the signing soon (The Star).

Last season, the 22-year-old holding midfield player made 36 appearances in the Serie A for Sampdoria and directly contributed in 5 goals (4 goals and 1 assist).

So far, Torreira has featured in 5 games for the senior national side, two at the World Cup, but he is yet to earn his first start under the management of Oscar Tabarez.

Overall, he has played 107 minutes for Uruguay and in his presence, the team has not conceded a single goal.

The former Pescara player is a solid play breaker and we can expect him to partner Swiss international Granit Xhaka and Welsh international Aaron Ramsey in the center of the park under Unai Emery next season.
