Arsenal signed Granit Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach under the management of Arsene Wenger but so far, the Swiss defensive midfielder has been inconsistent for the Gunners.

The north Londoners must sign a solid holding midfield star, who could provide a strong cover in front of the back four and according to reports, they are linked with a Uruguayan play breaker in the form of Sampdoria’s Lucas Torreira.

According to SampNews24, the Blucerchiati have an agreement with Arsenal, who would immediately pay the €25million release clause in Torreira’s contract to hire his services. However, it is mentioned that the deal is being complicated due to the agent’s commissions involved.

The 22-year-old South American midfielder featured in 36 Serie A games for Sampdoria in the last campaign, scored 4 goals and provided 1 assist.

His impressive performances for the Italian club deservedly earned him a call up from the senior national side.

Torreira made his debut for Uruguay back in March this year and after making just 3 appearances under Oscar Tabarez, he has been named in the 23-man squad for the World Cup.

As per the provided SampNews24 link, the likes of Dortmund and Napoli are also interested in luring the youngster, therefore, Arsenal should act swiftly if they are to get his signing done.
