Serie A giants AC Milan are reportedly looking to ward off interest from the likes of Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain to sign Alexis Sanchez in the New Year. The Chile international has just nine months remaining on his Arsenal contract, and the Gunners seem to have made no breakthrough in negotiations over a fresh deal.

According to Don Balon, it could be a three-way race to pursue Sanchez’s services, should Arsenal decide to offload him during the winter transfer window. Manchester City’s interest has been the widespread talk over the past few months, but Paris Saint-Germain and Milan are also on the hunt for the 28-year-old.

Pep Guardiola’s side had failed with a £60m plus offer for Sanchez in the summer just past, and there has been a suggestion that they could secure a cut-price deal for his signature. However, it appears that the Rossoneri and Les Parisiens have joined the attacker’s chase with the former deemed as potential front-runners to lure Sanchez from the Emirates.

As per Don Balon, the Rossoneri are prepared to shatter their transfer record with a £75m bid for Sanchez in January. Such a sum is a huge outlay for a player approaching the end of his contract, but the club’s Chinese owners appear determined on securing a top-four league finish which would assure them of Champions League football for next season.

Sanchez has shown glimpses of his old self in recent games for Arsenal, and the Chilean has not dropped his performance levels despite initial doubts over whether he would turn up after his summer move was blocked.

Arsenal have garnered 10 points from the first six games of the Premier League campaign, and they face a must-win game against Brighton & Hove Albion in order to keep tabs with leaders Manchester City, who are already nine points adrift of them.
