Arsenal maintained their 100 percent record at home as they secured a 2-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday afternoon. Nacho Monreal and Alex Iwobi scored a goal in either half as the Gunners climbed to fifth in the Premier League standings.
Arsenal Player Ratings:
Petr Cech: The veteran did not have any key saves to make, although he was put on alert by the Brighton attack in the backend of the game. Saw a shot off Solly March hit the woodwork in the first-half – 7/10
Rob Holding: Replaced Laurent Koscielny in the ranks and put in a solid performance on the right side of the three-man backline. Look more assured than previous games where he was put at fault – 7/10
Shkodran Mustafi: The German made key interceptions in the tail-end of the match. Had a couple of shaky moments, probably because of fatigue from the midweek Europa League game – 7/10
Nacho Monreal: Opening the scoring with a delightful effort. The Spaniard notched just his second league goal in four seasons and pleased with his all-round performance – 8/10
Hector Bellerin: Was always on the run on the right side of the attack. Combined well with Aaron Ramsey but could not find the final through ball past the Brighton backline – 7/10
Sead Kolasinac: Maintained his aggression in the left wing-back spot. Nearly provided the perfect assist to Aaron Ramsey, but the Welshman’s effort was blocked by a combination of Lewis Dunk and Maty Ryan – 7.5/10
Granit Xhaka: Better composure from the Swiss international, who was the subject of criticism in the previous game against West Bromwich Albion – 7/10
Aaron Ramsey: Played in a free role, and was a constant presence in the Brighton box. Did not get an open chance to score other than an effort in the second half which was impressively saved by Ryan – 7.5/10
Alexis Sanchez: Looked back at his old best. He put in a superb showing on the left side of the attack. Provided a back-flick assist to Iwobi for the second goal – 8.5/10
Alex Iwobi: Made swift exchanges of play for much of the game before he was put through on goal by Sanchez – 7.5/10
Alexandre Lacazette: The Frenchman could not continue his home scoring streak, but came close, only to be denied by Brighton shot-stopper Maty Ryan – 7/10
