Twitter reaction: Liverpool fans go in panic mode after Philippe Coutinho injury

Liverpool fans appear to be fearful over the club’s top-four hopes after Philippe Coutinho was brought off in the early stages of the Premier League clash against Watford.

The Brazil international has been a key player for the Reds over the course of the campaign and his tally of 10 goals and six assists has kept them within the Champions League positions.

With Sadio Mane already out for the season with a knee injury (The Sun), Coutinho’s breakdown would be the last thing in the mind of the Reds faithful.

The former Inter ace appeared to take a blow on his thigh via an opposition knee, and it appears that he may have sustained a dead leg or may be worse depending on the medical analysis.

Coutinho’s substitution allowed midfielder Adam Lallana to make his first league bow since March 19 after he managed to overcome a thigh issue incurred on international duty.

Meanwhile, others had a calmer sense of view on the situation with Coutinho having retained his position on the substitutes’ bench following the injury.

 

The Reds are currently holding a one-point advantage over fifth-placed Manchester United in the standings, and the last thing they would have hoped for is a short-term injury to Coutinho.

With Daniel Sturridge still not up to full match fitness, the Reds could be working with their bare minimum in the coming weeks, should Coutinho be ruled out for a significant period of time.

After Watford, the Merseyside outfit take on the likes of Southampton, West Ham United and Middlesbrough, and no wins are granted with the trio capable of holding their defence on their day.

Liverpool have had a bizarre stat of struggling against the bottom sides, and this is something they will have to rectify in the coming games in order to guarantee their participation in next season’s Champions League.
