Tottenham Hotspur confirm injury blow for leading marksman

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the worst possible news for their supporters after confirming that Harry Kane will be sidelined until early March after damaging the ankle ligaments in his left ankle.

The England international suffered the injury during the dying stages of the recent Premier League defeat against Manchester United and after a thorough assessment, Spurs have confirmed that they will be without their leading marksman for an extended period.

Spurs recently witnessed their title ambitions fade after dropping nine points behind Liverpool at the top of the standings and losing their striker thereafter should hamper their prospects of securing silverware in other competitions.

Based on the club’s assessment, the England captain could miss up to 11 games at the least and this rules him out of the League Cup semi-final second leg against Chelsea as well as the double-legged Champions League round of 16 tie against high-flying Borussia Dortmund.

The north London side are scheduled to face Fulham in a London derby at Craven Cottage this weekend and the match may witness Fernando Llorente leading the line with Kane, Lucas Moura and Heung-min Son unavailable at the moment.

Son has been Spurs’ most-improved player during the ongoing campaign but they are expected to miss his services upfront with the South Korean having joined his compatriots for the ongoing Asian Cup being held at the United Arab Emirates.

Meanwhile, Moura sustained a knee injury during the 7-0 mauling of Tranmere Rovers in the FA Cup third round which has personally deemed as ‘painful’ and this should likewise keep him out of action for the forthcoming cross-town derby against Claudio Ranieri’s men.
