Liverpool have been linked with Croatian international and Besiktas star Domagoj Vida this summer and the recent update is intriguing.
Earlier this month, Turkish outlet Fanatik reported that the Reds have made an offer of €18m for the World Cup star but Besiktas rate the player at €35m.
Now, as per a recent report covered by another Turkish source in the form of Sabah, the Super Lig side wants a figure of €25m from the sale of their central defender.
His performance:
The 29-year-old defender was rock solid in the defense for the national side at the World Cup alongside central defensive partner Dejan Lovren. Unfortunately, Croatia’s defense crumbled in the final against France and they lost the contest 4-2. Vida even scored a goal in the tournament vs the hosts in the last eight.
He joined Besiktas in the January transfer window and just played 13 league fixtures. The important factor is that he was signed for free, therefore, any fee that Besiktas can earn from his sale would be a huge bonus.
Liverpool’s situation at the back:
Liverpool concede 42 goals in the 2016-17 Premier League campaign and last season, they showed slight improvement and conceded 38 goals.
Their back line largely improved after the arrival of Virgil van Dijk from Southampton in the winter transfer window and his usual partner was Dejan Lovren, who has been top class recently.
In my opinion, Liverpool do not really need to strengthen their central defense anymore and first, they must focus on replacing Brazilian playmaker Coutinho, who left the club in January to join Barcelona.
