Premier League [Preview]: Watford vs Arsenal

Watford will faceoff against Arsenal in Saturday’s late Premier League kick-off from Vicarage Road. The Hornets have made an impressive start under the guidance of Marco Silva, and they are up to eighth on the table with 12 points. Meanwhile, the Gunners have recovered from their early stutter in the top-flight, and they are positioned fifth in the standings with 13 points.

Previous meeting:

The previous meeting between the clubs was at the Emirates Stadium with Watford bagging a surprise 2-1 win over Arsene Wenger’s side. Younes Kaboul and Troy Deeney scored in the 10th and 13th minute respectively, and they held on for the victory amid constant Gunners pressure. Arsenal had 74 percent of possession in the game, but this presented for nothing as they bagged just a solitary goal from Alex Iwobi.

Players to watch for:

Richarlison – Watford: The former Fluminense forward has turned to be an instant hit for Watford this term with three goals in seven outings. The 20-year-old was chased by the likes of Manchester United last summer, and his qualities have been on display with late goals against Swansea City and West Bromwich Albion, which have earned his side three additional points.

Alexandre Lacazette – Arsenal: The France international has quickly settled in the Gunners books with four goals in seven top-flight appearances. Lacazette has scored all of his four goals at the Emirates, but he was a tad unfortunate to have a goal chalked off at Stoke City in August. The 25-year-old has converted 33.3 percent of his chances this term, and the club will expect more from him as the central striker.

Prediction:

Arsenal have had the odd stumble versus Watford at the Emirates, but they have been more assured in their trips to Hertfordshire. They have secured comfortable victories in their previous four visits to Vicarage Road, and they could be backed to continue this streak versus the Hornets, who are still searching for the first home win of the season.
