Predicted Liverpool lineup vs Leicester City, Mohamed Salah starts

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool will look to avenge their midweek League Cup defeat to Leicester City when they return to the King Power Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Reds truly dominated the first half of the third round League Cup tie, but their defence fell apart in the second period as goals Shinji Okazaki and Islam Slimani sealed a 2-0 win for the Foxes. Questions have already been raised over the club’s defensive frailties and Klopp will be desperate for a response when the Reds face off against the Foxes for the second time in the week.

Lineup:

Klopp has stuck with Simon Mignolet for the Premier League duties, and the Belgian is likely to retain his place for the third week running. Trent Alexander-Arnold is likely to keep his place on the right side of the defence, while they could be a recall for Alberto Moreno at left-back. While Dejan Lovren is still struggling with a back problem, there are further issues in the centre-back position with Joel Matip also short of match fitness. As a result, Joe Gomez could lineup alongside Ragnar Klavan at the heart of the defence.

Emre Can took part in full training after overcoming a minor against Burnley, and he is likely to lineup alongside skipper Jordan Henderson and Philippe Coutinho in a midfield three. Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah are certainties in the attack front, and the former could swap his role alongside Daniel Sturridge, who is likely to be starting in the centre-forward position. Sadio Mane remains a huge miss for the Leicester clash as he is serving the final game of his suspension, having been sent off in the 5-0 loss to Manchester City earlier this month.

Prediction:

Jamie Vardy is said to be fit for Leicester City this weekend, and this could probably hurt the Reds’ backline, which has leaked 10 goals in the four games played this month.
