France international Paul Pogba has reportedly decided that he wants to pursue a fresh challenge away from Manchester United despite the uptrend in form under interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The midfielder had been in-and-out of the starting lineup during the first half of the season under ex-boss Jose Mourinho but his situation has changed under Ole with the Norwegian handing him a regular starting role.
This has had a great effect with Pogba contributing nine goals and seven assists in Ole’s tenure compared to the meagre tally of five goals and four assists under Mourinho during the first four months of the campaign.
Despite this, Pogba appears to have his mind set on pursuing a bigger challenge away from the Mancunian giants with Real Madrid highlighted as the dream destination for the summer, AS reports.
It is added that former employers Juventus are also keen on recruiting the midfielder but they won’t make an approach for the midfielder unless he makes the formal decision to push through the Old Trafford exit door.
Opinion:
Pogba has been afforded with a free role from midfield under the guidance of Ole and this has helped him influence the play with a number of top-notch performances especially in the Premier League.
At present, the Frenchman has two more years remaining on his existing contract with the Red Devils, but they may not necessarily consider his sale, given they have the option to extend the deal by another 12 months.
As such, the midfielder appears more likely to stay put with the club next season regardless of the transfer interest and he could be working under Ole once more with the Norwegian on the cusp of the permanent role.
Pogba has recently looked off-colour in back-to-back matches against Arsenal and Wolverhampton Wanderers, but he should be aiming to put things right when Watford make the Old Trafford trip after the international break.
