Manchester United have been linked with Belgian international and Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld for quite some time and he is in the lime light again.

The Red Devils have already signed a goal keeper, a full back and a midfielder to strengthen their team in the summer transfer window.

They have been in search of a new center half and a quality defender like Alderweireld will be a top signing for Jose Mourinho.

Few days back, Italian source Tutto Mercato Web reported that United are the favorite club to hire the services of the former Atletico Madrid center back.

Now, The Daily Express have reported that the Old Trafford club will make their move this week in the hope to get the signing done this month.

Last month, ESPN reported that the three time European Champions are willing to pay £50million but Spurs want a fee closer to £70million (€79million) for their prized asset.

However, as per The Daily Express, United are still hoping to pay around £50million but the north Londoners are demanding a fee worth £60million.

The 29-year-old star was mostly injured in the last Premier League campaign but he was fit for the World Cup and made 5 appearances in the competition. Belgium were knocked out by France in the last four.

  1. It is not about the price. Mourinho identified the players he wanted to acquire (and some he wanted to let go) right at the start of the window. Four of them (Alderweireld, Rose, Bale and Ronaldo) play for Tottenham or Real Madrid and Woodward is terrified to deal with either Perez or Levy. It looks like Mourinho is not going to be able to make the moves he had hoped for. Woodward is so frightened by these individuals that he hasn’t even made enquiries. It is still unlikely to happen. I don’t know how Mourinho could convince Woodward to get him the players he wants to do the job he was hired for.
