Exclusive – Dortmund want signing of Alfred Finnbogason

Dortmund sold star playmaker Ousmane Dembele to Barcelona in the summer transfer window and they could end up losing another important player this month.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is linked with a move to Arsenal and reports indicate (Gianluca Di Marzio) that the Gabon international has agreed personal terms with the London based club.

We can exclusively reveal that the German side are already preparing for the departure of Aubameyang and want Iceland international Alfred Finnbogason to replace him at the Signal Iduna Park.

At the moment, Dortmund are occupying the final Champions League qualification place in the league. The likes of Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Monchengladbach are just a single point behind BvB.

Finnbogason, 28, is an experienced center forward, who has been in great form for Augsburg this season. He has so far scored 11 goals in 16 Bundesliga fixtures and is only behind superstars like Lewandowski (15 goals) and Aubameyang (13 goals).

Sources close to Augsburg have told that the former Heerenveen striker is in favor of a move to Dortmund.

The major hurdle is that Augsburg do not want to sell Finnbogason in the January transfer window as he can help the club get into the Champions League. Augsburg are 7th in the Bundesliga after 18 games and are just two points behind Dortmund.

Finnbogason made his debut for the senior Iceland team in 2010 and so far, he has netted 11 times in 45 games.
