French giants Paris Saint-Germain will entertain Bayern Munich in a star-studded Champions League clash at Parc des Princes on Wednesday night. Unai Emery’s side are regarded as one of the favourites to clinch the European crown this term after having recruited the likes of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe to their ranks. The Capital outfit are currently at the top of the French Ligue 1 with 19 points and have relatively been at ease, barring the 0-0 draw against Montpellier last time around. On the other hand, Bayern have not had a rollicking start to their Bundesliga campaign, and they are currently three points adrift of leaders Borussia Dortmund. The German champions have dropped points against Hoffenheim and Wolfsburg, with the former clinching a surprise 2-0 win at the Rhein-Neckar-Arena.
Players to watch for:
Neymar – Paris Saint-Germain:
The Brazilian has been in the press for the wrong reasons of late after he had an on-field dispute with Edinson Cavani over a penalty kick. The 25-year-old has since missed Les Parisiens’ trip to Montpellier with a minor foot injury, but he is expected to be fit for the Champions League outing versus Bayern. Neymar has already notched five goals and five assists for Les Parisiens, but the Bayern game will provide his first big test since moving on from Barcelona in the summer.
Robert Lewandowski – Bayern Munich:
Similarly to Neymar, Lewandowski has gathered media attention after he launched a scathing attack at the Bayern hierarchy over their failure to bring in big names. The Pole has amassed eight goals for the Bavarian giants this term, and he remains the focal point of their attack with the likes of Thomas Muller and Arjen Robben supplementing him. He has scored in each of his last four appearances for Bayern.
Prediction:
Bayern would probably take a low-scoring draw, Paris Saint-Germain 1-1 Bayern Munich
