Premier League giants Arsenal are reported to have revived their interest in signing Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema this summer.
The Frenchman has been annually linked with a move to the north London giants, and Spanish outlet Don Balon appear to suggest that the player could finally be on his way to the Emirates.
Benzema, who will turn 30 later in the year, has never been a favourite among the Bernabeu faithful, and he is understood to be eyeing a move elsewhere following constant criticism over his performances.
The France international (perhaps former) has highlighted his agent over a potential move to a new league, and Don Balon claim that the Gunners are among the frontrunners for his signature in the summer.
Benzema has vastly struggled to make an impression in the Los Blancos shirt this term, but manager Zinedine Zidane has nevertheless kept faith in his compatriot as he feels the player can contribute on the attack front than backup Alvaro Morata.
The former Lyon man currently has two years left on his deal due to expire in 2019, and this could hinder his move elsewhere with Los Blancos set to demand a £50m sum at the least(Mirror).
Arsene Wenger has been a huge admirer of the experienced marksman over the years, but even he may have doubts over a proposed move for a player, who will be on the wrong side of 30 in December.
Wenger will have a lot to prove, should he earn a fresh contract beyond the summer, and a deal for Benzema would be an option in the wrong direction with the club in need of a striker, who can make up play on his own.
Arsenal currently have the likes of Danny Welbeck and Olivier Giroud to depend upon in the striking department with the latter often symbolizing Benzema’s style of play, although with a lack of pace.
