World Cup – Egypt’s Key Player – Mohamed Salah

The World Cup will kick start in 10 days and we take a look at one of the stars, who had an amazing year for both the club and the country.

Egypt’s Mohamed Salah secured his move to Liverpool last year and broke record after record at Anfield. He broke the record for most goals scored in a single PL campaign (38 games) by netting 32 times and deservedly won the PFA Player of the Year prize. In the process, he overtook the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Alan Shearer and former Liverpool star Luis Suarez.

Overall, in all competitions, the 25-year-old African star featured in 52 games for the Reds and directly contributed in no fewer than 60 goals.

Unfortunately, the speedy playmaker suffered a shoulder injury in the final of the Champions League against Real Madrid but the latest update is that he is feeling good (The Independent) and it is likely that he will feature in the World Cup for the national side.

Salah was pivotal in helping Egypt qualify for the finals after a wait of 28 years. In 5 World Cup qualification games, the former Roma star scored 4 goals and provided 2 assists to send the Pharoas to Russia.

It will be intriguing to see how far he can take Egypt in the game’s biggest competition.
