Wolverhampton Wanderers keen on loaning striker before Manchester City game

Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly keen on pushing through a loan move for Tammy Abraham from Chelsea before their Premier League showdown against Manchester City on January 14.

The England international is presently on a season-long loan with Aston Villa but he is widely expected to be recalled with the Villains’ west Midlands rivals prepared to offer him gametime in the Premier League.

According to Sky Sports News, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are eager to finalise the loan signing of the Blues’ graduate before their league trip to Manchester City scheduled seven days from now.

However, the move is only expected to be temporary for the campaign with the Blues already turning down the prospect of sanctioning the marksman’s sale on a permanent deal during the month.

Abraham had a relatively poor stint with Swansea City on loan during the previous season and he ended the campaign with just five league goals as the Welsh outfit were demoted to the Championship.

Thereafter, the striker was loaned out to the Villains after they offered him the assurance of regular playing time and the move has certainly paid dividends with him once more earning recognition.

In the 20 league games, the striker has already amassed 16 goals for the west Midlands outfit and this sees him jointly topping the Championship scoring charts alongside Billy Sharp from Sheffield United.

Should Wolves sign Abraham as planned, he could potentially be competing with Raul Jimenez for the centre-forward role, though the manager may be tempted to go two upfront, given the latter’s success this term.

The Benfica loanee has been impressive for the Wolves with six goals and four assists on the board and this has included a couple of standout displays in the victories over Chelsea and Tottenham last month.
