Manchester United have been linked with Brazilian international Fred for a very long time and now they have taken a major step to seal his signing.

Yesterday, the Red Devils confirmed via their official website that they have reached a fee agreement with Shakhtar Donetsk to sign the Samba midfielder. It is mentioned that a further announcement will be made in due course. United should seal his signing after completing the remaining formalities.

The official website has not stated about the terms of a contract, however, as per The Mail, the 25-year-old star has been signed on a five year contract and for a fee worth 52 million pounds (€59.4million).

During his time with Shakhtar, the South American midfielder won the Ukrainian Cup once, the Ukrainian Super Cup twice and the league title on three occasions.

In the recently concluded campaign, he featured in 37 games in all competitions and directly contributed in 11 assists (4 goals and 7 assists).

The former Internacional star can play in multiple midfield positions but we can expect him to start in between the likes of Matic (defensive midfielder) and Pogba (advanced midfielder).
