Rooney and Tosun start, 4-2-3-1: Predicted Everton lineup to face Liverpool

Everton return to Premier League action this weekend with a Merseyside derby versus Liverpool at Goodison Park. The Toffees come off a disappointing 3-1 defeat at the hands of Manchester City, but they will be aiming to take advantage of any fatigue in the ranks of Liverpool, who had a midweek Champions League quarter-final tie versus the Citizens.

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Lineup:

Jordan Pickford has undoubtedly been the Toffees’ best player this term. The England international could anticipate another busy day between the sticks, and his performance is likely to be crucial to bagging a positive result.

In defence, Allardyce can once again call upon the experience of Seamus Coleman and Leighton Baines on the right and left-back positions respectively whilst we are fancying Phil Jagielka and Michael Keane to continue their central defensive partnership with Ashley Williams out-of-favour of late.

With Idrissa Gueye still sidelined with a muscle tear, Allardyce is likely to opt for a genuine midfield partnership, and we are fancying Tom Davies to accompany Morgan Schneiderlin in the centre of the park with Wayne Rooney playing just ahead of them in the central attacking midfield role.

Yannick Bolasie found his scoring touch during the recent loss to the Citizens, and the Congolese footballer is more than certain to retain his position on the left-wing. Other than this, Theo Walcott should start on the right side of the attack with Cenk Tosun leading the line.

Prediction:

The result could be dependent on what kind of side Klopp lines up against Everton. The Reds have injury concerns to deal across the field and this includes top-scorer Mohamed Salah, who sustained a groin issue against City. Hence, we are predicting Everton to secure a point from the derby with the home advantage.
