Tottenham have recently agreed a new deal with Colombian international Davinson Sanchez but it seems that his central defensive partner, Toby Alderweireld, could depart the north London club in the summer transfer window.

According to a report covered by Evening Standard, Manchester United are confident of signing the Belgian international to strengthen their back line.

The British source have mentioned that the Red Devils are ready to splash over 40 million pounds (€45.8million) to secure the signing of the 29-year-old defender.

The former Atletico Madrid defender has been a top performer for Spurs since joining the club back in 2015. Under the management of Argentine boss Mauricio Pochettino, Alderweireld has excelled big time.

However, in the recently concluded Premier League campaign, he was mostly on the treatment table due to a hamstring injury and could only start 13 times.

As far as Manchester United’s current central defense is concerned, they have stars like Jones, Smalling, Rojo, Blind, Bailly (signed in 2016) and Lindelof (signed last year). We can expect one or two CBs to be sold if Alderweireld does end up moving to Old Trafford.
