Real Madrid weighing up approach for unsettled Arsenal ace

Spanish giants Real Madrid have reportedly emerged as surprise candidates to acquire the signature of midfielder Aaron Ramsey from Arsenal when his contract expires at the end of the ongoing campaign.

The Wales international has impressed in the Gunners’ shirt over the past decade where he has contributed more than 50 goals and 50 assists but his future remains highly doubtful with the hierarchy reluctant to offer him a fresh deal beyond the current season.

Due to this, he has already been linked with some of Europe’s high-profile clubs including Bayern Munich but according to The Mirror, Real Madrid have emerged as the new contenders to acquire the signature of the former Cardiff City graduate.

However, the European champions are not necessarily looking into a mid-season move for the Welshman but they are prepared to discuss a pre-contract agreement with the midfielder when the transfer window reopens at the turn of the year.

Despite Los Blancos’ struggles this term, a move to the Bernabeu would undoubtedly be an upward step for Ramsey, though a deal does not appear straightforward with the European champions potentially in need of convincing the midfielder to pursue a fresh challenge overseas.

Ramsey’s partner only recently gave birth to twins and The Mirror suggests that could potentially prove a stumbling block towards any potential deal with Los Blancos, with the midfielder said to hold the preference to remain in the Premier League.

The 27-year-old has dropped down the pecking order for the Premier League duties over the past month with manager Unai Emery opting to feature the likes of Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Alex Iwobi ahead of him in the starting lineup.

Nonetheless, he made a strong impact with a couple of assists during the recent north London derby triumph over Tottenham Hotspur and this could potentially hand him a starting role for the midweek game at Manchester United. Arsenal are presently fourth in the standings with 30 points.
