Manchester United could reportedly get their hands on Real Madrid attacker Gareth Bale, should they qualify for next season’s Champions League.

The Wales international has had an injury-hit season with the European champions, and this has seen the likes of Isco, and Marco Asensio earn their positions in the starting lineup.

According to The Express, via Diario Gol, the Red Devils could make a surprise swoop for the former Tottenham man, if they are to secure Champions League football for next season.

Los Blancos president Florentino Perez is understood to be frustrated with Bale’s ongoing injury concerns, and he is prepared to part ways with the Welshman ahead of a huge spending spree in the summer.

The Red Devils have lacked the presence of a potential goalscorer since the departure of Robin van Persie, and Bale could perform the duties adequately from the left side of the attack.

Bale, 26, had been pursued by the Mancunian giants prior to his move to Real Madrid in 2013, but unfortunately, they could not lure the player under the presence of then-boss David Moyes.

With Jose Mourinho around, the Red Devils do hold a better chance of tempting the player, but the Champions League remains a must with the Welshman having lifted the European crown twice in the last three seasons.

United’s hopes of qualifying for the elite competition via the league may be all but over after their gruelling 2-0 loss at the hands of Arsenal, and this leaves the Europa League as the only route to the major showpiece.

Manchester United currently hold a 1-0 advantage from the first-leg of their semi-final against Celta Vigo, and they will be hoping to lift the title in Stockholm where they could potentially face Dutch giants Ajax.

Despite sustaining multiple injuries this season, Bale has managed to bag nine goals from 24 starts for the Bernabeu outfit, who could yet lift the long-awaited La Liga title.
