Premier League leaders Manchester City welcome Arsenal in Sunday’s crunch Premier League encounter at the Etihad Stadium. The Citizens have cruised through the first 10 games of the campaign with nine wins and one draw. As a result, Pep Guardiola’s side are topping the standings with 28 points, nine ahead of Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal, who are placed fifth.
What happened last weekend?
Manchester City continued their seven-match winning streak last weekend after they overcame West Bromwich Albion by a 3-2 scoreline. The Citizens dominated proceedings with over 75 percent of the possession, and Leroy Sane was the pick of the players with a goal and an assist.
Arsenal had to win it the hard way versus Swansea City after they went 1-0 down at the break. The Gunners recovered early in the second period to make 2-1 with Sead Kolasinac scoring the opener and assisting Aaron Ramsey’s second for the Gunners.
Players to watch for:
Leroy Sane – Manchester City: While the attention is on Sergio Aguero’s record-breaking 178th goal for City, Sane has quickly developed into a crucial player under Guardiola. Initially out of the picture, an injury to Aguero allowed the German to command a starting role, and he has since not looked back with a string of top-notch performances. Sane has contributed six goals and five assists to the Citizens’ cause.
Alexis Sanchez – Arsenal: Sanchez came on the cusp of joining Manchester City last summer, only for the Gunners to blocked his move at the 11th hour. The Chile international has since shown glimpses of his ability, although he is still far off from last season’s form. Sanchez has notched one goal and two assists in the top-flight this term, but his start versus the Citizens could dictate the Gunners’ tempo.
Prediction:
Manchester City look unstoppable at present, and they should beat their north London counterparts.
Manchester City 2-0 Arsenal
