Premier League Preview: Arsenal vs Manchester United

Premier League giants Arsenal and Manchester United will take on each other over the weekend in what is anticipated as one of the crucial games of the campaign. Both the Gunners and Red Devils are on the hunt for a top-four position in the league standings with the latter on a 25-match unbeaten run in the top-flight.

Surprisingly enough, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has yet to win a league game against opposition coach Jose Mourinho in 12 outings (seven draws & five defeats), and this will make it mentally tougher for the north London club despite their home advantage.

Players to watch for:

Mesut Ozil – Arsenal:

The Germany international has looked out of sorts over the past few games following his promise in the 3-0 win over West Ham United earlier last month. Ozil has not shown up against any of the big teams barring his star performance against September in Chelsea, and this makes the game versus United all so important for a player fighting for his Gunners future.

The club’s faithful would be expecting a key performance from their highest-paid player with United unlikely to be at full throttle following a hard-fought 1-0 win over Celta Vigo in the Europa League, semi-final, first-leg on Thursday night.

Marcus Rashford – Manchester United:

Rashford is a name which would be ringing into the fears of the Gunners faithful after his debut brace against the north London club last term. Wenger’s men had a small chance of lifting the title by then, but Rashford made them with a couple of goals from close range which resulted in a 3-2 defeat.

The England international will have to be closely tracked by the Gunners three-man backline if they to salvage a fruitful result against one of their arch-rivals of the Premier League era.

Predicted XI:

Arsenal – (3-4-2-1): Cech; Gabriel, Koscielny, Mustafi; Oxlade-Chamberlain, Monreal; Ramsey, Coquelin; Ozil, Sanchez; Welbeck.

Manchester United – (4-2-3-1): De Gea; Valencia, Bailly, Smalling, Darmian; Carrick, Herrera; Mkhitaryan, Pogba, Rashford; Martial.
