Premier League final day Review

Chelsea were crowned the new champions of England on Sunday following a resounding 5-1 win over Sunderland at Stamford Bridge. The game was a particular highlight for one veteran ‘John Terry’, who received a guard of honour from his teammates in what is likely his final game in the Blues shirt.

Other than this, it was business as usual for the other top four clubs with Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur earning resounding wins away from home while Liverpool also returned to the Champions League after a two-year wait.

Arsenal managed to attain eight wins out of their last ten games in the top flight, but they eventually fell one point short of the top-four positions, meaning that they will feature in the Europa League for the first time under the Arsene Wenger era.

The bottom clubs did not see much of a change in their standings but managerless Watford would be bitterly disappointed after having finished just a position above the relegation zone on goal difference.

West Bromwich Albion will be the other side lamenting over what could have been after having ended the campaign with a nine-match winless streak which included seven defeats.

The West Midlands club were in pole position to achieve a top-eight finish after the 3-1 win over Arsenal in March, but they had since attained just two points out of a possible 27 to end their campaign in a respectable 10th place.

Relegated trio Sunderland, Middlesbrough and Hull City all suffered hammering defeats against their opposition in the curtain closer, and they will need to mentally prepare themselves ahead of their return to the Championship.

Though the Premier League campaign has come to a close, fans from both Chelsea and Arsenal would still be eagerly awaiting for the FA Cup final when the London rivals take centre stage at Wembley this Saturday.
