Opinion: Two Players Arsenal could sign before this month’s deadline

Premier League Arsenal have made meaningful business with the signings of Sead Kolasinac and Alexandre Lacazette this summer, but they require additional firepower in the attacking department considering the uncertainty over Alexis Sanchez’s future at the Emirates. Calcio Insider looks into two players, who could most likely make the switch to north London prior to this month’s transfer deadline.

Thomas Lemar – AS Monaco: Not a day has gone without Lemar linked with the Gunners. The France international has come off a brilliant campaign with AS Monaco, where he bagged 14 goals and 14 assists. However, it is a little surprising that the top clubs in Europe have opted to give a miss on the attacker this summer. The 21-year-old possesses sheer pace in the wider positions and this combined with his brilliant set-piece taking technique makes him one of the best upcoming prospects in Europe. Arsenal have already failed with a couple of bids for the highly-rated forward, but they could be expected to break their transfer record once more this summer in order to sign the former Caen man.

Jean-Michel Seri – Nice: The Ivory Coast international has been linked with Arsenal in stages during this summer’s transfer window. The 26-year-old normally plys his trade at the heart of the midfield, and last season brought the best of his abilities as he was directly involved in 16 goals (nine assists and seen goals) for Nice, who qualified for the Champions League playoffs. Seri, dubbed ‘the African Xavi’ was initially eyeing a potential move to Barcelona, but their interest appears to have diminished with new boss Ernesto Valverde comfortable with his current squad. Seri currently has a £36m release clause in his contract, and this is well within the range of Arsene Wenger’s side, provided they move in for a new enforcer. Arsenal have lacked the presence of Santi Cazorla in recent seasons through injury, and Seri could be the nearest comparison to the Spaniard from outside, given his contribution on both sides of the pitch.
