Fekir likely to leave, Liverpool move could finally happen

Prior to the 2018 World Cup, Liverpool were reportedly on the verge of agreeing to a deal with Lyon midfielder Nabil Fekir. The French international was reportedly already set to conduct his announcement interview with the club before the move collapsed. So, he went on to win the World Cup as a Lyon player, not a Liverpool player.

If the latest reports are anything to go by then the Merseysiders could still end up signing the player. Liverpool recently loaned young prospect Harry Wilson out to Derby County, which could be a signal that the Reds are fine with losing out on squad depth with the anticipation of adding Fekir to the midfield before the upcoming season.

France Football have recently reported that the future of the Les Bleus star is unclear and as per the current trend, he is going to leave the Ligue 1 club. Two days back, Bleacher Report’s Dean Jones tweeted, “I’m told Fekir now progressing well again. This could be a defining week for Liverpool.”

There are different types of football bets, even transfer related and the Fekir-Liverpool transfer saga should be very intriguing for the punters.

There was an issue with Fekir’s medical with Liverpool that pushed the five time European champions to pull out of the deal but Melissa Reddy thinks that if there is a way the move can be secured then PL giants will find a way to do it (The Daily Express).

“The only thing is, this wasn’t a ‘we disagree on figures, we disagree on wages’ – it’s a medical thing.”

“I think if there is some sort of way to get the player and protect their best interests as a club, they’ll find a way to do it.”

It has already been a busy summer for Jurgen Klopp and company. Liverpool have already announced the signings of Brazilian defensive midfielder Fabinho as well as Swiss World Cup star Xherdan Shaqiri. The Reds have also acquired midfielder Naby Keita, whose transfer was announced last year and last night, Alisson secured his move to Anfield.

Liverpool have accomplished all of this without losing much from last year’s squad that finished as runners-up to Real Madrid in Champions League. Emre Can left on a free transfer to Juventus, but that has been the only major departure from the regular squad this summer.
