£Manchester United finished runners up in the Premier League last season and Mourinho will be looking to go one better next season.

The Red Devils have already reinforced certain key areas this summer but they still need to improve the attack.

According to Don Balon, Mourinho ‘wants’ to sign Portuguese international and PSG playmaker Goncalo Guedes, who is valued at 80 million euros (£71million) by the French giants.

Current attack at Old Trafford:

United splashed the cash to lure Romelu Lukaku last year in the summer transfer window. Moreover, they hired the services of Alexis Sanchez in the winter transfer window.

Mourinho has also got players like Mata, Martial, Rashford and Lingard. However, the French international was mainly a bench warmer in the second half of last season and in all fairness, Mata is past his best. In such a scenario, the Red Devils lack quality depth in the attacking department and Mourinho should lure a top star.

Last season’s stats:

Goncalo Guedes spent the last season on loan with Valencia and proved to be a major hit in the La Liga. He scored 5 goals and provided 11 assists in 33 league outings. On the other hand, he made 4 appearances for the Seleccao at the World Cup and provided just one assist.

Guedes’ playing position:

The 21-year-old playmaker has the ability to play on either flank and even as a center forward if needed. He has got the pace and the trickery to beat the defenders.

For Benfica, Guedes used to play as a secondary striker, Valencia mainly used him on the left wing and at the World Cup, he partnered Cristiano Ronaldo in the strike-force for Portugal. Therefore, Mourinho can utilize the youngster in multiple attacking positions if he can get his signing done.
