Manchester United prepared to secure €63million signing

Manchester United only conceded 28 league goals in the recently concluded Premier League campaign but reports suggest that Mourinho is not satisfied with his back line.

According to Manchester Evening News, the Portuguese boss is so unconvinced by his team’s defense that he wants to further reinforce the department in the summer transfer window by signing a top quality center back

In such a scenario, the Manchester source have claimed that the Red Devils are prepared to break the bank to secure the signing of Belgian international and Spurs star Toby Alderweireld.

MEN have further mentioned that the Old Trafford club are negotiating a deal worth 55 million pounds (€63million).

It must be remembered that Mourinho lured Bailly in 2016 and Lindelof last year to strengthen his central defense. Alderweireld has proved to be one of the best center halves in the league and he will be a quality signing for the former Chelsea boss.

The 29-year-old former Atletico Madrid defender was mostly on the treatment table (with a hamstring injury) in the last campaign and could only start 13 Premier League games under the management of Mauricio Pochettino.

As per the provided MEN link, Alderweireled decided to not sign a new deal and therefore, Spurs are now keen to sell the Belgian defender, whose current contract with the club will expire in 2019.

We can expect United to offload a central defender or two as well since they have an over-crowded central defense.
