Manchester United midfielder fancies working alongside Cristiano Ronaldo

Manchester United superstar Paul Pogba has reportedly told the club’s hierarchy that he would prefer an exit from Old Trafford during the winter transfer window. The France international rejoined the Red Devils from Juventus for a club-record £89m fee in the summer of 2016 and he has since been influential towards their League Cup and Europa League final triumphs.

Despite this, he has regularly been criticised by supporters and pundits alike for his inconsistency in the United shirt and according to The Express, the midfielder could push for a potential return to Turin at the turn of the year. It is added that the World Cup winner is keen to work alongside Cristiano Ronaldo at the Bianconeri with whom he won four straight Serie A crowns between 2012 and 2016.

Pogba had been expected to light up the Premier League after making his United comeback from Juventus two years ago but he has since struggled to find a consistency to his game which has generated frustrating among the faithful. Moreover, he has also developed a strained relationship with Jose Mourinho in the same period and during the World Cup, he personally admitted that there were differences between them last season.

As such, this could be among the prime reasons behind the Frenchman seeking a potential return to Turin, although it is yet to be seen whether United would entertain his departure after losing him on a free in the first place in 2012. Pogba has made a decent start to the 2018/19 season with two goals from his opening four league outings but both of those have however come from the penalty spot.

Aside from this, the Frenchman also missed a spot kick during the recent league meeting at Burnley and barring that, the supporters have not had much to savour regarding the midfielder’s performance. Unlike at the international stage, Pogba has often been found guilty of making a notable number of mistimed passes with United and this is something he may need to improve on to constantly deliver on the playing field.
