Manchester United legend Michael Carrick retired from football after completing his last campaign with the club. Moreover, Belgian midfielder Marouane Fellaini has not agreed a new deal with the Red Devils as yet.
In such a situation, manager Jose Mourinho needs to strengthen his midfield department and the Red Devils have been heavily linked with Brazilian international Fred.
Reports in the media have suggested that the Samba star is close joining the Old Trafford club from Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk and The Sun have revealed when the deal is actually going to be completed.

The British source covered an exclusive report and claimed that Manchester United will secure the signing of the midfielder next week. The Sun further stated that the player will be captured in a deal worth €59million including bonuses.
Manchester United’s arch rivals Liverpool have already strengthened their midfield department by agreeing deals to sign Naby Keita and Fabinho this summer.
Fabinho has been impressive in the past few campaigns but he could not earn a place in the Brazilian national squad for the World Cup, instead, Tite opted to select Fred in his team. The 25-year-old player is mainly focusing on preparing for the tournament and has left his agents to care of his future.
Fred said (The Sun):
“I am focused solely on the World Cup. My agents are taking care of this.”
“It’s an honor to be on the radar of great European coaches. I have a versatility on the pitch and I’m a multi-skilled player able to play in both midfield positions. I believe some coaches need that with their teams.”
