Liverpool moved within two points of leaders Manchester United after they secured a thumping 4-0 win over Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday. The Merseyside giants were dominant from start to finish against a wasteful Gunners’ side who failed to show up on the day. Goals from Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Daniel Sturridge sealed the comfortable victory for Jurgen Klopp’s side. Here are our player ratings for the game…
Loris Karius: The German had no saves to make but brought a sense of nervousness whenever he had the ball – probably Klopp may revert back to Mignolet next game – 5.5
Joel Matip: Provided a solid performance at the heart of the defence. Did not looked troubled, provided a key interception in the box which played a part in Salah’s goal – 6.5
Dejan Lovren: The Croatian missed a goalscoring opportunity in the first period. Other than that, he was relatively solid alongside Matip, irrespective of his previous flaws – 6.5
Joe Gomez: Spotted the run of Roberto Firmino brilliantly for the first goal. A top performance at right-back in the absence of Nathaniel Clyne and Trent Alexander-Arnold – 7
Alberto Moreno: The Spaniard featured ahead of Andrew Roberson, who became a father on Saturday. Produced a good performance while maintaining a fine balance between attack and defence – 6.5
Georginio Wijnaldum: The quieter influence at the centre of the park. The Dutchman did want was needed of him, and put in another credible showing – 6.5
Jordan Henderson: Tried his luck from long range. Managed to dominate the midfield ahead of Arsenal pair Granit Xhaka and Aaron Ramsey, who looked out of sorts – 7
Emre Can: The German took his form from midweek where he came up with a brace against Hoffenheim. Commanded the midfield. Liverpool should extend his deal quickly! – 7.5
Mohamed Salah: Another stormer of a game for the Egyptian. Philippe Coutinho could well be forgotten when he’s around. Got himself a goal and an assist on the day – 8
Sadio Mane: The attacker has gone from strength to strength at Anfield. Menacing and gave Rob Holding a hard time all game. Terrific curler for the second goal – 8
Roberto Firmino: Not a commanding striker by any means, but still does his job superbly. A goal and assist in the first period pretty much finished off the Gunners – 8
