Liverpool hired the services of Dominic Solanke from Chelsea last summer to cover for Brazilian international Roberto Firmino, who was Liverpool’s main center forward in the last campaign.

The Reds had not settled on a fee with the Blues over the transfer of the 20-year-old England international. Now, according to reports (BBC), the Merseysiders have finally agreed an undisclosed fee with the Stamford Bridge club for Solanke.

Former Hoffenheim player, Firmino, featured in 54 games in all competitions for the Reds last season and directly contributed in 44 goals (27 goals and 17 assists).

Klopp opted to loan out Origi last year and Ings and Sturridge proved to be injury prone. In such a scenario, the German mainly used Solanke to cover for Firmino and in all fairness, the young striker was below average.

In the last campaign, Solanke got the chance to feature in 27 games for the senior team in all competitions for the Anfield club and he managed to score only one goal.

Fortunately, Firmino was fit all season long but it is evident that Liverpool seriously lack quality and depth in their strike-force.

Therefore, Jurgen Klopp should splash the cash to sign a quality center forward this summer.
