Juventus turn down third Chelsea bid for Alex Sandro

Serie A holders Juventus have reportedly turned down a third bid from Chelsea for defender Alex Sandro amid the frustration of Antonio Conte. The Premier League champions have been hot on the trail of the Brazil international over the past month, but it appear that the Old Lady are not keen on a sale.

Max Allegri’s side lost the likes of Dani Alves and Leonardo Bonucci early on in the transfer window, and there are not prepared for anymore defensive exits as it would unsettle the overall makeup of his squad. According to Calciomercato, the Blues have faced the third snub for the left wing-back after their initial offers of €50m and €65m were knocked back by the Italian giants.

Conte’s side are said to have tabled a third bid of €70m plus add-ons totalling to €80m, but the Turin outfit have stayed in their stance of not selling the defender in the transfer window. Sandro currently at a contract with Juventus until 2020, and the club are in a comfortable position to negate any offers unless the player himself pushes for a move.

Juventus have reached the Champions League final in two of the last seasons, and Sandro is, for now, content to remain in Turin with the assurance that he would be the first choice on the left side of the backline – regardless of the formation Allegri goes for.

A third rejection would undoubtedly add more frustration for Conte, who has seen his side weakened during the transfer window. The Blues have recruited the likes of Willy Caballero, Antonio Rudiger, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Alvaro Morata this summer, but they have also lost a key player in Nemanja Matic to Manchester United while Diego Costa is more or less an outsider following his training ground bust-up with Conte in January.
