Serie A holders Juventus have made an official announcement regarding the signing of Aaron Ramsey from Arsenal at the end of the season. The Wales international had failed to finalise a contract renewal with the Gunners beyond the summer and this has eventually paved the way for the Bianconeri to secure his services on a Bosman deal.
Ramsey has been a brilliant servant for the north London side for more than a decade and his notable contributions come in the form of the winning goals in the 2014 and 2017 FA Cup finals – the former of which ended the club’s nine-year wait for a trophy.
Owing to this, he has become a favourite among the majority of the Gunners supporters but that has not necessarily contributed to a contract extension with the hierarchy breaking down contract talks with the Welshman at the beginning of the season itself.
As such, it had become a foregone conclusion that the midfielder would eventually part ways with the Capital outfit and it has now been officially confirmed with Juventus acknowledging that the player has penned a pre-contract agreement starting from next season and beyond.
In some ways, the finalisation of the deal should allow Ramsey to express himself more on the playing field, though it cannot be argued that the Welshman has not shown a good level of commitment during the first half of the season with the Gunners.
Ramsey missed the recent league game at Huddersfield Town with a minor knee problem and it will be interesting to see whether he can recover in time for the Europa League round of 32 first leg meeting against BATE Borisov on the road on Thursday night.
