International Friendly [Preview]: Germany vs Brazil

World Cup champions Germany host Brazil in an international friendly in Berlin on Tuesday. Joachim Loew’s side secured a 1-1 draw against Spain in their recent outing, and they will be aiming for another positive result against Brazil to keep up the momentum ahead of the global tournament in Russia.

On the contrary, Brazil come off a convincing 3-0 triumph over 2018 World Cup hosts Russia, and they now have their sights on a potential revenge over Germany. Their last meeting versus Die Mannschaft ended in an embarrassing 7-1 semi-final defeat at the 2014 World Cup.

Players to watch for:

Leroy Sane – Germany: Sane only came on from the bench during the stalemate against Spain, and he could not do much to influence the game. However, the 22-year-old should start on Tuesday night, given the absence of star duo Mesut Ozil and Thomas Muller. Sane has had a top season with Manchester City on the left side of the attack, and the experienced Dani Alves is likely to have his work cut-out to restrict the youngster from dribbling past him to provide key passes to his front-men.

Roberto Firmino – Brazil: The Liverpool marksman was likewise only a substitute versus Russia, and we are fancying him to start ahead of Gabriel Jesus. Firmino has an excellent co-ordination with Philippe Coutinho, and the former often tends to find the scoresheet off a sublime cross/pass from his compatriot. Their link-up play has unfortunately not been visible in 2018 with Coutinho having switched clubs, but the German backline may need to keep a close eye on their respective movements through the game.

Prediction:

Germany were not as their best during the La Roja encounter on Friday night, but the champions managed to find a way to level the scores. Both teams are pretty much equally matched across all departments, and we are anticipating another score-draw.
