From Spain – Emery has asked Arsenal to sign key trio

Arsenal’s new manager Unai Emery needs to strengthen his team as quickly as possible by signing top players this summer.

If the latest reports in the media are anything to go by then the former Sevilla boss has set his sights on the La Liga to reinforce the Gunners in the transfer window.

According to Don Balon, Emery has asked Arsenal to try to secure the signings of three key players from the Spanish league.

The players in discussion are as follows:

  1. Samu Castillejo (Villareal)
  2. Asier Illarramendi (Real Sociedad)
  3. Djene (Getafe)

Castillejo is a Spanish attacker, who can effectively play on either flank. Last season, the 23-year-old featured in 30 league games for the Yellow Submarine and directly contributed in 13 goals.

Illarramendi could not prove himself during his time at Real Madrid but for Real Sociedad, he has been impressive. Last season, the 28-year-old deep lying playmaker scored 7 goals and provided 5 assists in 36 league fixtures.

As per the provided Don Balon link, Emery likes the Spanish midfielder and thinks that he is one of the most under valued players in Europe.

Last but not the least, Djene is a Togolese center half, who helped Getafe finish in the top half of the campaign last term. The Spanish club only conceded 33 league goals (only Barca and Atletico conceded fewer) and the 26-year-old defender was rock solid at the back for them in the entire campaign.

The north Londoners surely need to strengthen their back line this summer and someone like Djene could be a quality signing for them.
