Federico Bernardeschi finalising move to Juventus

Italy international Federico Bernardeschi is reportedly on the cusp of joining Juventus after the Serie A holders fended off a late approach from Manchester United. The 23-year-old is highly-rated in his home country following a top season with Fiorentina where he bagged 13 goals and five assists last term.

Bernardeschi has already shown his qualities during his time in Florence, and his ability to feature across the attack has rewarded him a move to Juventus, who are keen to extend their domination in Italian football.

AC Milan have pulled the strings in the transfer market this summer after having recruited ten players including Juventus’ Leonardo Bonucci, and the Old Lady have begun their own recruitment as they seek to retain a seventh successive Scudetto next term.

According to TuttoJuve, the attacker will his Juventus medical on Monday with the club having agreed on an initial €40m fee with La Viola. Bernardeschi has been with the Florence outfit since the age of nine, but he is set to make an emotional exit as he looks to progress into a world-class winger.

The Old Lady were not the sole club interested in the promising prospect with Manchester United, Manchester City and Barcelona having all made enquiries, but Bernardeschi was comfortable making the switch to Turin.

Apart from his regular wing position, the Italian can also drift into the right wing-back role, and this could provide Juventus with an additional option to Mattia de Sciglio, who arrived from AC Milan earlier this week.

Bernardeschi has already earned nine caps with the Italian national side, but he still participated for his nation at the Under-21 European Championships where he bagged two goals en route to their semi-final exit to Spain. The versatile ace is due to ink a five-year contract with Juventus upon his successful medical with wages of around €4m up on offer annually.
