EPL Player Ratings [Liverpool]: Liverpool vs Manchester United

Liverpool and Manchester United played out a 0-0 draw on Saturday afternoon. Jurgen Klopp’s side were dominant against a defensive-minded United but they could not find the breakthrough owing to the brilliance of goalkeeper David de Gea coupled with poor finishing. The result sees Jose Mourinho’s men trail Manchester City by two points at the top of the table whilst Liverpool are nine adrift of the table-toppers.

Here are our ratings for the game…

Simon Mignolet: The Belgium international was largely a bystander in the game barring the Romelu Lukaku shot which was hit straight at him – 6.5/10

Joe Gomez: Pushed forward during crunch periods of the game, but had a fairly quiet outing on the defensive side with Lukaku left isolated up front – 6.5/10

Joel Matip: The centre-back was tasked with keeping Romelu Lukaku at bay, and did his job quite fluently for the most part of the game. Denied a goal by De Gea’s reflex save. – 7/10

Dejan Lovren: Looked much more composed than on previous occasions. Not troubled at all with United opting for a tentative approach to the Premier League outing – 6.5/10

Alberto Moreno: Pushed forward with intent for most of the game, but could not find the final delivery for his fellow teammates – 6.5/10

Jordan Henderson: Played as the holding midfielder, and controlled play efficiently with his passing. The England international was dominant over Ander Herrera, who never really got into the game – 7/10

Georginio Wijnaldum: A disappoint on the field. Did not pose much of a threat on the attack front. Tried to put pressure outwide, but underperformed – 6/10

Emre Can: The more mobile of the midfielders. Can tried his luck from afar, and could not latch onto a clear cut chance in the second period – 6.5/10

Philippe Coutinho: The Brazilian wizard was a constant threat on the left side of the attack, but the United backline stuck to the task of keeping up close with the attacker – 7.5/10

Roberto Firmino: Similarly to his compatriot, Firmino made the moves in the penalty box, but could not find the scoresheet with David de Gea in prime form – 7/10

Mohamed Salah: The Egyptian had numerous shots on goal but he just could not find the opener. Salah used his ground skills to his advantage but his finishing still needs to improve- 7.5/10
