England won their first ever penalty shootout in the World Cup history to knock Colombia out of the tournament in the Round of 16.

Next up, the Three Lions will collide against Sweden in the last eight. Who will come out on top?

In the past 10 meetings between the two teams (friendlies included), England have won only two games, Sweden have won 3 times and 5 games have ended up in a stalemate.

The last time the two teams faced each other was way back in 2012 in a friendly contest. Sweden won the fixture 4-2 on the night and retired international Zlatan Ibrahimovic netted all four goals including a stunning overhead kick strike which eventually won the FIFA Puskas award.

As far as England’s team news is concerned, we expect manager Gareth Southgate to make no changes in the team that started the contest vs the South Americans in the last round.

Walker, Stones and Maguire should start in the back line in front of Jordan Pickford, who was England’s best player against Colombia.

The likes of Ashley Young and Kieran Trippier should start in the wing-back positions. Liverpool star Henderson is one booking away from suspension but he might get the nod to start in the DM role. In front of him, Lingard and Alli should start in the central midfield.
