Jack Wilshere and Santi Cazorla have left Arsenal this summer and now the Gunners are looking to strengthen their midfield department. Reports suggest that Emery wants to sign Andre Gomes from Barcelona.
Multiple outlets have reported that the Spanish boss is prepared to agree the signing of the Portuguese international, who has normally warmed the bench at the Nou Camp.
According to the ESPN sources, the former Sevilla boss is pushing to sign the 24-year-old Seleccao star to reinforce his midfield. It is mentioned that Emery is especially keen on securing his signature for the north Londoners.

On the other hand, The Independent have reported that the Arsenal manager is so eager to sign the former Valencia star that he is willing to agree the sales of other players to get the deal done.
It must be remembered that Gomes’ current contract with the Catalan giants will expire in 2021 and it has a huge release clause (FCB) of 100 million euros (£88million).
In the presence of star midfielders like Iniesta, Rakitic, Busquets and Paulinho, the ex Benfica midfielder could only start 6 times in the La Liga last season. He surely needs to leave Barca for regular first team football and in such a scenario, a move to the Emirates could be fruitful for him.
Gomes was part of the Portuguese national team that won the European Championships in 2016 but he was not selected in the 2018 World Cup squad.
